Jasminum Auriculatum Absolute
Jasminum Auriculatum, also called Juhi, is a rarely used floral in western perfumery. It displays a different scent profile than other types of jasmine and contributes a complex, natural nuance to a perfume composition. Jasmine Auriculatum is a small flowering bush in the jasmine family found in South Asia. It is used primarily as a devotional flower for religious ceremonies and to make garlands for the hair.
It's odor is reminiscent of gardenia flowers with top notes of olibanum, tropical fruits and a rich balsamic undertone. Juhi has a grassy green aspect to it very much like that of Jasmine Sambac. Don't let the quirkiness of this jasmine absolute fool you...it is by no means inferior to the Jasmine Sambac or Grandiflorum. It is its own jasmine and a beautiful addition to any perfumer's organ.
