Tonka Bean Absolute
This extract comes from the Dipteryx odorata, a large tropical tree native to South America. The fruits produced are a single black bean or seed, which is harvested, soaked in rum and left to ferment, then pulverized & the absolute is extracted from the beans.

This absolute is a crystalline solid at room temperature but melts over gentle heat and easily dissolves in alcohol. It is very tenacious and benefits from pre-diluting so as not to overpower other materials in a composition.
