June 2026 - Vrai Violette (True Violet)
This limited-edition fragrance is a revival of a long-discontinued scent from the late 1800’s. It was the first perfume to use the newly discovered ionone, a molecule responsible for the fragrance we know as violet. Alpha and Beta Ionone were discovered in 1893 by two German chemists, Paul Krüger and Ferdinand Tiemann. This discovery changed the landscape of perfumery forever.
This lovely, simple violet solioflore opens with a burst of bergamot and violet flower. The heart swells with notes of Ylang-Ylang and green, stemmy violet leaf. The base is a delicate cloud of orris root, ambergris, and a vintage deer musk accord (synthetically reconstructed).
Although this fragrance is predominantly a violet floral, it is surprisingly unisex, with a woody, resinous drydown that leaves a lingering sillage of delicate violet-scented incense.
This is a limited-edition 10mL release. Only 250 bottles exist. Once the run is complete, Vrai Violette will return to the archives to be preserved in scent and memory. Acquire a bottle while available and carry forward a piece of perfume history.
