Osmanthus Absolute
Osmanthus, also known as Tea Olive, is an important flower in China. It symbolizes true love, honesty, faithfulness, peace and fertility. For these reasons it is often included in bridal bouquets. Osmanthus has an intoxicating, almost surreal type of quality to it. It is also often used to flavor tea.
Osmanthus absolute has a sweet, fruity smell with an almost soapy or aldehydic touch. It is a complex smelling flower, yet still very light & delicate. The predominant note that comes to mind is honeyed apricots. There is also a slight leather-like mustiness in the background interwoven with a slightly woody, tea-like backdrop.
